The panel includes a Kenyan-American, an Arab-American, and a Burmese-American.
Given the increased immigration from non-Western European countries in the last decades, how have American values and the American experience influenced and formed recent immigrant experience and practice, and how have the new immigrants re-shaped American identity and what it means to be an American? Please join our open dialogue with a diverse panel from local immigrant communities while we explore what it means to be an American in this new millennium. The panel will be made up of a Kenyan-American, an Arab-American, and a Burmese-American.
Each will have an opportunity to tell their story, followed by a time for Q&A.
Participants: Dr. Saneta Maiko, Crime Victim Care of Allen County; Ahmed Abdelmageed, Manchester University; Minn Myint Nan Tin, Burmese Advocacy Center; Dr. Michael Spath, IPFW, moderator.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
THE HINDU ALTAR OF FORT WAYNE: A Guided Tour

Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5310 Old Mill Road, 3:15-4:45pm
Vish Gurudutt, leader of the Bhajan (Hindu) Society of Fort Wayne discusses the various features and deities of the beautifully crafted altar around which gathers the Hindu population of Fort Wayne and Allen County. Although the primary audience will be Dr. Michael Spath's Hinduism class, the public is invited to attend, too
. The Hindu altar is located at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Wayne on Old Mill Road. Vish's presentation will be from 3:15-4:45pm.
